- Add couch covers. When you host for the holidays, you want your guests to feel comfortable curling up on your couch and enjoying some holiday snacks or a glass of wine, but you don’t want to be dealing with stains from said snacks or wines once the holiday is over. The solution? Add a couch cover. These will protect your couch from any food or beverage stains, and if anyone spills on the cover, you can just throw it in the washing machine after your guests leave, which is much easier than cleaning a couch. Consider getting a cover in a holiday pattern or color to make the room look more festive.
- Try washable rugs. When guests come to stay for the holidays, it generally means more foot traffic and more potential spills around the house, both of which can wreak havoc on rugs, leaving them faded, stained, and in desperate need of a cleaning. Instead, consider investing in washable rugs for high-traffic areas, which can be cleaned at home. That way, once your guests leave, all you have to do to refresh your rugs is throw them in the washing machine — no professional cleaning is required!
- Get firewood storage. If you anticipate many cozy nights by the fireplace this holiday season, consider investing in some sort of storage (like a basket) for firewood. Having a specific storage space for firewood not only ensures guests know where to find it if they want to make a fire but will also keep your space organized and decluttered.
