Kathy McDonald and Beau

Kathy McDonald and one of her beloved dogs, Beau*. Kathy has worked as an advocate for domestic animals for the past 10+ years with various shelters and rescue organizations throughout Wyoming as well as adjacent states.

In 2009, she founded 3 Dog Rescue whose purpose is "saving dogs' lives, one at a time."

*Beau is certified for Pet Therapy at West Park Hospital and participates in various pet therapy programs. He especially enjoys having the children read to him at the library.


Kathy McDonald relocated from Texas to Cody in 1994. As a small business owner she became very active in the Cody Country Chamber of Commerce, serving as Board member from 1998-2003, Chamber President in 2001, was Cody's "Ambassador of the Year" in 2004, and remains a dedicated volunteer for the Chamber in numerous capacities.

Kathy started in real estate in 1998 and managed residential and commercial properties. Her love and knowledge of this area and "being from someplace else" enables her to help those relocating to the area "find what they are looking for."

As a member of Cody Economic Development Council from 1998-2003, she has a special insight into the growth and needs of the community. She continues to serve on the Family Selection Committee for "Mountain Spirit Habitat" striving to assist in satisfying the Community's need for affordable housing.

She joined American West Realty in the Spring of 2004. "Kay and I have worked together for many years to serve our community. We feel our skills and expertise in different areas are a great match to better accommodate the needs of our clients. It was with Kay's encouragement that I chose to serve on the Northwest Wyoming Board of REALTORS® (2003-2009) as Secretary and as MLS Chair."
